LeSean McCoy

He was the 2011 FedEx Ground Player of the Year; He was named the Big East Player of the Year in 2008

LeSean McCoy, widely known by his nickname "Shady," is one of the most dynamic running backs in NFL history. Born on July 12, 1988, McCoy's football journey began at Bishop McDevitt High School, where he showcased his immense talent before suffering a significant ankle injury in his senior year. Despite this setback, McCoy went on to play college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers, where he quickly made a name for himself. In his freshman year in 2007, he rushed for over 1,300 yards and scored 14 touchdowns. By 2008, McCoy was a second-team All-American, finishing third in the nation with 21 rushing touchdowns, solidifying his status as one of the top college running backs.

McCoy's professional career took off when he was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He quickly became a key player for the Eagles, breaking the 1,000-yard rushing mark in 2010 and earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2011. His 2013 season was particularly remarkable, as he led the NFL in rushing yards with 1,607, breaking the Eagles' single-season rushing record that had stood for 34 years. By the end of the 2014 season, McCoy had become the Eagles' all-time leading rusher, surpassing the legendary Wilbert Montgomery. His combination of speed, agility, and vision made him a nightmare for opposing defenses.

In 2015, McCoy was traded to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso. He signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the Bills and continued to perform at an elite level, making the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons with the team. McCoy played a pivotal role in helping the Bills end their 17-year playoff drought, further cementing his legacy as one of the NFL's premier running backs. During his time in Buffalo, McCoy also joined the exclusive club of running backs who have surpassed 10,000 career rushing yards, a testament to his consistency and durability over the years.

McCoy's career concluded with one-season stints with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, where he won back-to-back Super Bowl championships. His contributions to the game were recognized when he was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, a fitting honor for a player who led the league in rushing yards, touchdowns, and yards from scrimmage during that decade. McCoy's legacy as one of the most versatile and productive running backs of his era is firmly established, and his impact on the game will be remembered for years to come.
