Jack Del Rio
He helped coach the 2001 Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens
After retiring as a player in 1996, Del Rio quickly transitioned into coaching, starting as an assistant with the New Orleans Saints in 1997. His big break came when he joined the Baltimore Ravens as a linebackers coach in 1999, where he played a key role in the team’s dominant defense that led them to a Super Bowl XXXV victory. Del Rio’s success with the Ravens earned him a promotion to defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2002, where his defensive schemes caught the attention of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who hired him as their head coach in 2003.
Del Rio’s tenure with the Jacksonville Jaguars lasted from 2003 to 2011, during which he compiled a 68–71 record and led the team to two playoff appearances. Known for his defensive acumen and no-nonsense approach, Del Rio helped build a tough, competitive team, though he was ultimately let go after the 2011 season. He then served as the defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos from 2012 to 2014, helping the team reach Super Bowl XLVIII. In 2015, Del Rio was hired as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders, where he led the team to a 12–4 record and a playoff berth in 2016, before being dismissed after the 2017 season.
Following his time with the Raiders, Del Rio took a brief hiatus from coaching, working as an NFL analyst for ESPN. He returned to the sidelines in 2020 as the defensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders, where he remained until his departure midway through the 2023 season. Throughout his career, Del Rio has been known for his defensive expertise, leadership, and ability to get the most out of his players. His extensive experience as both a player and coach has made him a respected figure in the football community.
