Eli Manning

He was MVP of Super Bowl XLII and XLVI

Elisha Nelson Manning, better known as Eli Manning, is a former professional football quarterback who spent his entire 16-season NFL career with the New York Giants. Born into the famous Manning football family, Eli followed in the footsteps of his father, Archie Manning, and his older brother, Peyton Manning. Eli played college football at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where he earned prestigious awards such as the Maxwell Award and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. His collegiate success led to him being selected first overall in the 2004 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers, though he was immediately traded to the Giants, where he would go on to make his mark in NFL history.

Manning's most notable achievements came in the form of two Super Bowl victories, both against the New England Patriots. In Super Bowl XLII, Manning led the Giants to a stunning upset over the previously undefeated Patriots, a game that is widely regarded as one of the greatest upsets in sports history. Four years later, he repeated the feat in Super Bowl XLVI, once again defeating the Patriots. Manning was named Super Bowl MVP in both games, joining an elite group of players who have won the award multiple times. His clutch performances in these high-stakes games solidified his reputation as a quarterback who thrived under pressure.

Throughout his career, Manning was known for his durability and consistency. He started 210 consecutive games for the Giants from 2004 to 2017, the third-longest streak for a quarterback in NFL history. During his tenure, he set numerous franchise records, including most passing yards, passing touchdowns, and completions. By the time he retired in 2020, Manning ranked 11th all-time in passing yards and 10th in passing touchdowns, further cementing his legacy as one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in NFL history.

Manning's contributions to the Giants and the NFL have earned him widespread respect and admiration. His leadership, poise, and ability to perform in critical moments have made him a beloved figure in New York sports. While his career was often compared to that of his brother Peyton, Eli carved out his own legacy, particularly with his two Super Bowl MVP performances. His impact on the game and his franchise will be remembered for years to come.
