Aly Raisman
She was the captain of the 2012 Olympic Gold Medal-winning US women's gymnastics team
At the 2012 London Olympics, Raisman showcased her versatility and skill by winning gold medals in both the team and floor exercise events, as well as a bronze medal on the balance beam. Her performance made her the most decorated American gymnast at those Games. Four years later, at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Raisman continued her dominance by winning another team gold medal, along with silver medals in the individual all-around and floor exercise. Her six Olympic medals place her as the third-most decorated American gymnast, behind only Shannon Miller and Simone Biles.
Beyond the Olympics, Raisman also had a stellar career at the World Championships. She was a key member of the U.S. teams that won gold at the 2011 and 2015 World Championships. Individually, she earned a bronze medal on floor exercise at the 2011 World Championships. Raisman’s national achievements are equally impressive, as she is a two-time national champion on floor exercise (2012, 2015) and the 2012 national champion on balance beam. She also earned five all-around medals at the U.S. National Championships, further cementing her legacy in the sport.
Raisman’s contributions to gymnastics extend beyond her medal count. Her leadership, consistency, and ability to perform under pressure have made her a role model for aspiring gymnasts worldwide. She has also been an advocate for athlete safety and mental health, using her platform to speak out on important issues within the sport. Raisman’s influence continues to be felt, even in retirement, as she remains a prominent figure in the gymnastics community.
