Jeremy Lin

He was a 2012 NBA BBVA Rising Star; He is credited with the global phenomenon Linsanity

Jeremy Lin, a Taiwanese-American basketball player, made a significant impact on the NBA and the global sports community. Born on August 23, 1988, Lin is best known for his breakout performance with the New York Knicks during the 2011–12 season, a period that became famously known as "Linsanity." His unexpected rise to stardom captivated fans worldwide, as he led the Knicks on a seven-game winning streak and helped them secure a playoff spot. Lin's success was particularly notable as he became the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play in the NBA, breaking barriers for Asian Americans in professional basketball.

Lin's journey to the NBA was far from conventional. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, he excelled in high school basketball but received no athletic scholarship offers. He attended Harvard University, where he became a standout player in the Ivy League, earning all-conference honors three times. Despite his collegiate success, Lin went undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft. He signed with the Golden State Warriors but saw limited playing time and was sent to the NBA Development League (D-League). After brief stints with the Warriors and Houston Rockets, Lin joined the New York Knicks, where his career took a dramatic turn.

Following his time with the Knicks, Lin played for several NBA teams, including the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks, and Toronto Raptors. While he had moments of success, particularly in Houston and Charlotte, injuries hampered his ability to maintain consistent performance. In 2019, Lin became the first Asian American player to win an NBA championship as a member of the Toronto Raptors. After leaving the NBA, Lin continued his career in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), where he became an All-Star with the Beijing Ducks and later played for the Guangzhou Loong Lions.

In 2023, Lin joined the New Taipei Kings of the Taiwan Professional Basketball League (TPBL), continuing his professional career in Asia. His influence extends beyond the court, as he has become a global icon and a source of inspiration for many aspiring athletes, particularly within the Asian American community. Lin's perseverance, work ethic, and ability to overcome adversity have made him a beloved figure in the world of sports.
