His time with the Rangers included an All-Star season in 2016, further cementing his reputation as one of the league's premier pitchers. After a brief stint with the Chicago Cubs in 2018 and 2019, Hamels signed with the Atlanta Braves in 2020. Unfortunately, injuries limited his playing time, and after two unsuccessful comeback attempts, Hamels officially announced his retirement from professional baseball in 2023.
