The Los Angeles Lakers are a NBA team based in Los Angeles, California. The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA. Led by Hall of Famers Elgin Baylor and Jerry West, Los Angeles made the NBA Finals six times in the 1960s, but lost each series to the Boston Celtics, beginning their long and storied rivalry. In 1968, the Lakers acquired four time MVP Wilt Chamberlain to play center, and won their sixth NBA title and first in Los Angeles in 1972. After the retirement of West and Chamberlain, the team acquired Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The 1980s Lakers nicknamed "Showtime", won five championships in a nine-year span, including their first ever Finals championship against the Boston Celtics in 1985. This team featured Hall of Famers in Johnson, Abdul-Jabbar, and James Worthy, and a Hall of Fame coach, Pat Riley. After Abdul-Jabbar and Johnson's retirement, the team struggled in the early 1990s before acquiring Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant in 1996. Led by O'Neal, Bryant, and another Hall of Fame coach, Phil Jackson, Los Angeles won three consecutive titles between 2000 to 2002, securing the franchise its second "three-peat". The Lakers won two more championships by defeating the Orlando Magic in 2009 and Boston in 2010.
Audience: Fundraising Event
Client: Western Oregon University
Western Oregon University hired Direct Sportslink to secure A.C. Green as an after dinner speaker at the WOU fundraising event. Well known for his years at Oregon State and with the Los Angeles Lakers during some their championship years, A.C. needed little introduction. He was a great choice as the evening keynote speaker for an audience with college students and parents.
A.C. Green was great at our auction, he interacted with our guests and student-athletes. He took the time to listen and talk to as many people as he could while taking pictures with guests. He was a great addition to our event and we would recommend him to other universities or groups.
