Edgerrin James attended the University of Miami where he played college football as a running back. He was first-team All Big East in 1998.
James was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 1999 NFL draft. He was the 1999 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and was selected to play in the 2000 Pro Bowl. In 2006, James received a ring after the Colts won the Super Bowl XLI. James left the Colts with 9,226 yards and signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2006. In 2008 he was a member of the NFC Champion team.
James announced his retirement from the NFL in 2011. He ended his career with 80 TD's, 3,028 rushes and 12,246 rushing yards. He was later inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame along with being a Colts Ring of Honor inductee.
